The JAY X2 is a lightweight, maintenance-free, fluid filled, wheelchair cushion with a reduced profile that is designed to provide stability and pressure relief to active clients. The cushion is made of of 4 components; foam base, gel pad, thigh wedges and a cushion cover. The foam base is contoured and has a pressure care well at the back of the cushion. This is where the gel pad is attached. This pressure care well with the gel pad reduces the applied force on the individuals ischial tuberosities. Therefore allows for better pressure care management. The thigh wedges are inserted into the front corner pockets of the cover. They provide guidance for positioning of the lower extremities and prevent abduction.
The Jay X2 is thinner than the Jay 2 and therefore can be used for individuals who require a lower profile cushion but still need adequate skin protection. The foam base is also more flexible, which some individuals find more comfortable to use.

A: An individual with a high risk of skin breakdown and shear. It is designed for individuals who are unable to weight shift, have limited postural stability and/or are unable to re-position themselves. The gel pad at the back of the cushion provides better pressure care management when compared to a standard foam cushion.
Q: What is the benefit of the Jay cushion cover?
A: The cushion cover as a two-way stretch. This allows for proper immersion and prevents an increase in pressure which can result from surface tension. the air-vented panels on the side of the cushion promotes airflow and dissipates heat and moisture. This keeps the surface and the individual clean and dry. The top layer of the cover is moisture/incontinence-resistant, helping with incontinence management for the individual. The second waterproof cover inside the cushion, prolongs the lifespan of the foam layer as it is protected from any fluid that could enter the cushion.
